The Madras High Court has postponed its decision on a plea challenging the continued tenure of actors Nasser, Vishal Krishna, and Karthi as office-bearers of the South Indian Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) beyond their elected term. The court reserved orders until July 1 following arguments on the rejection of the civil suit.
The plea questions the legality of the actors holding office after their term ended in March 2025. The court noted uncertainties on the benefits to the plaintiff even if the resolution from the association’s Annual General Meeting in 2024 is declared invalid.
During the hearing, the Nadigar Sangam’s counsel highlighted that the challenge was directed at the AGM resolution and not the Government Order extending the office-bearers’ tenure until 2028. The association defended the extension, citing the need to complete a convention center project.
