The Maharashtra Home Department has issued a Government Resolution permitting restaurants, hotels, and orchestra bars in the state to stay open until 5:00 AM on New Year’s Eve. This resolution, dated December 30, 2025, aims to simplify the yearly permission process and cater to the high demand during the holiday season. The extended operating hours are specifically for December 31, allowing establishments to function until 5:00 AM the next day.

The government emphasized that the resolution was introduced to prevent delays caused by late applications from organizations each year. Despite the extension of hours, strict conditions have been imposed by the state to ensure public safety and order. Establishment owners are required to have adequate private security guards inside and outside their premises to prevent any law and order issues.

The responsibility for any untoward incidents or crimes within or around the premises lies solely with the owner or licensee holder. Even with the extended time, all establishments must comply with noise pollution laws and court guidelines on loudspeaker and sound system usage. This permission is applicable only to indoor or enclosed establishments; open-air venues or businesses in open spaces are not included in this extension.

The police administration has been instructed to take necessary measures to uphold public peace and security during these extended hours.
