The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has sanctioned the launch of Zilla Karmayogi Program 2.0 and the Sarpanch Samvad Program. These initiatives, managed through the MITRA institution, aim to train around 85,000 officers and staff, from ground-level workers to district-level officials, to bolster district GDP by supporting MSMEs and FPOs.
Training for 20,000 Sarpanches will be facilitated through a tripartite agreement involving the Quality Council of India (QCI), MITRA, and the VSTF Foundation. This training will focus on financial autonomy, effective implementation of government schemes, long-term planning for Gram Panchayats, and empowering women members through e-learning and workshops.
Moreover, the Divisional Commissioners have been authorized by the state cabinet to regularize the appointments of 291 bonded Health Assistants (Female) who are currently serving or have retired under District Councils. This decision aims to ensure job security and administrative resolution for these health workers.
In another move, the cabinet has approved the allocation of one acre of land to the Dharashiv Municipal Council for erecting a statue of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe, a renowned literature and social reformer. This land, situated in Dharashiv city, is part of the Dairy Development Department.
Furthermore, an ordinance is set to be issued to amend the Maharashtra Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats, and Industrial Townships Act, 1965. This amendment focuses on enhancing the powers of directly elected Presidents, allowing them to hold dual positions and exercise voting rights during council proceedings.
