Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted a significant rise in regional retail fuel consumption compared to usual patterns. The state’s Food and Civil Supplies and Home Departments are overseeing supply pipelines to manage the increased demand. Petrol distribution has expanded by 23% and diesel by 52% to stabilize the market.
Fadnavis mentioned concerns about fuel hoarding and possible diversion for commercial use. Specific regions like Akola have seen a surge of 154%, while other districts show up to a 70% increase in regular consumption. The government is analyzing the differences between commercial and retail fuel supplies to ensure resources reach consumers effectively.
The CM, accompanied by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, assured the public of adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG in Maharashtra. The government and Oil Marketing Companies are closely monitoring supply operations to prevent disruptions. Fadnavis criticized the opposition for politicizing the onion crisis, emphasizing the government’s sensitivity to farmers’ issues.
