Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that Minister Narhari Zirwal’s name has not been linked to the ongoing bribery investigation involving his Private Secretary and a clerk. Fadnavis emphasized that Zirwal’s name did not surface in any evidence or conversation related to the case.

Fadnavis addressed the media after a Cabinet meeting, clarifying that the clerk involved in the bribery demanded money, leading to actions against superior officers. Despite demands for Zirwal’s resignation, Fadnavis affirmed that if any evidence had implicated Zirwal, the government would have requested his resignation.

A bribery scandal unfolded in the State Food and Drug Administration department, implicating Zirwal’s personal assistant and a clerk. The government faced pressure for Zirwal’s resignation, but Fadnavis defended Zirwal, stating that the Anti-Corruption Bureau only acts with concrete evidence.

Fadnavis highlighted the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and emphasized ongoing efforts to combat corrupt practices. He acknowledged that corruption tarnishes the government’s reputation, underscoring the need for strict action against any form of bribery.
