Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, amidst the ongoing campaign for the 2026 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, shared insights on his ties with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. Despite being on opposing sides politically, Fadnavis emphasized that their personal friendship remains intact.
Fadnavis highlighted the essence of Maharashtra’s political ethos, stating that political differences do not equate to personal animosity. He mentioned that despite the current electoral rivalry, he and Raj Thackeray maintain a strong friendship, which transcends political boundaries.
In a recent interview, Fadnavis also touched upon his relationship with Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena-UBT, emphasizing the importance of maintaining civility even after political disagreements. He expressed confidence that post-election results, they would resume cordial interactions, reflecting the state’s political culture.
Fadnavis criticized the alliance between Raj Thackeray’s MNS and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT, labeling it as a strategic error that would adversely impact the MNS within the coalition. He reaffirmed the unity of the Mahayuti alliance, stressing their commitment to the civic polls.
The Chief Minister further scrutinized the campaign tactics of Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, accusing them of diverting attention from developmental issues by inciting controversies. Fadnavis asserted that focusing on development would expose their lack of substantive responses, thereby resorting to distractions.
