Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the BJP’s significant 45% vote share in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, indicating a clear mandate for the party. Despite contesting fewer seats than the Shiv Sena (UBT), the BJP achieved a higher strike rate and garnered strong public support.
Fadnavis pointed out that in the recent elections, the BJP contested 135 seats and won 89, showcasing a notable improvement compared to the past. He highlighted that the BJP’s vote share of 45% surpassed that of the Shiv Sena (UBT), which contested more seats but secured a lower percentage of votes at 27%.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction in fulfilling the party’s aspiration of becoming the largest party in Mumbai, a goal achieved through consistent support in various elections. Fadnavis underlined the BJP’s commitment to development and stated that despite some narrow losses, the party’s performance reflected widespread backing across different segments of the city.
Fadnavis praised the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance for securing a majority in the civic body and outlined plans for enhancing Mumbai’s infrastructure and governance. He reiterated the government’s dedication to transforming Mumbai into a world-class city, focusing on transparency, ongoing projects, and future initiatives post the mayoral announcement.
