Emphasizing a commitment to effective governance rather than political theatrics, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined significant financial relief measures, agricultural reforms, and transparency in national competitive exams. During a press conference following a Cabinet meeting, Fadnavis expressed readiness for constructive debates, prioritizing public infrastructure and farmer welfare over disruptions. He defended a Rs 36,585 crore crop loan waiver scheme, aiming to support farmers without electoral motives.
CM Fadnavis, accompanied by Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, criticized the opposition’s boycott of a tea meeting, accusing them of lacking new issues in their communication. The crop loan waiver scheme, benefiting around 56 lakh farmers, will waive defaulted loans and restructured NPAs up to Rs 2 lakh per farmer without landholding criteria. Fadnavis urged caution in sowing operations due to anticipated scattered rains till early July, addressing challenges posed by El Nino.
The Chief Minister highlighted Central Government support for implementing structural schemes in Maharashtra, ensuring effective execution. He announced the introduction of 10 legislative bills during the upcoming session, including provisions for legal status for women farmers. These bills aim to enable women to co-own agricultural land titles and access credit, subsidies, and government benefits directly.
Fadnavis assured smooth conduct of the NEET exam in Maharashtra, emphasizing preventive measures against malpractices to safeguard genuine medical aspirants. With a focus on citizen welfare, he expressed readiness to address constructive queries but warned of political responses to politicization. The opposition defended its boycott of the CM’s tea meeting, citing government failures on critical issues.
