Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing the state Assembly, highlighted Maharashtra’s pivotal role in India’s economic growth, aiming to lead the nation’s $5 trillion ambition. Emphasizing the state’s economic prowess, Fadnavis mentioned its significant contribution to the national GDP, attracting 40% of India’s Foreign Direct Investment.
Fadnavis outlined a shift towards structural transformation from incremental reforms, securing substantial investments through Memoranda of Understanding. He stressed sustainable leadership, unveiling plans for Viksit Maharashtra 2047 and the transformation of Gadchiroli into a Green Steel Hub.
The CM announced initiatives to foster industry and environmental balance, including a massive tree plantation drive. Maharashtra’s evolution as the Startup Capital of India was highlighted, with plans for an Innovation City near Navi Mumbai Airport and development projects in Mumbai and around Vadhavan port.
Fadnavis detailed the state’s focus on technology development, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors, and Data Centres. He underscored the regional growth beyond Mumbai-Pune-Thane, with cities like Nagpur and Nashik emerging as leaders in solar manufacturing and defence aviation respectively.
