Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized fraudulent individuals, including astrologer Ashok Kharat, highlighting the ineffectiveness of black magic in solving real-world issues. He humorously suggested that if black magic worked, Ashok Kharat could have advised Donald Trump on security using lemons and chillies instead of advanced technology.
Fadnavis emphasized the absurdity of relying on “godmen” for political victories, stating that genuine spirituality should not be confused with harmful superstitions. He addressed the proliferation of such figures in Maharashtra, particularly referencing the case of Ashok Kharat, who is currently facing charges of rape and other crimes.
The Chief Minister affirmed his commitment to eradicating superstition, mentioning the ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the Ashok Kharat case. Fadnavis stressed the importance of upholding Maharashtra’s spiritual legacy, rooted in positivity and honesty, while condemning practices that harm others in the name of faith.
Fadnavis urged the public to provide any relevant information regarding Ashok Kharat’s activities to aid in the government’s efforts. He disclosed that the government is finalizing specific rules under the Anti-Superstition Law to address such cases promptly and ensure justice for the victims, with a focus on expediting legal proceedings in crimes against women.
