In response to the tragic death of Ketan Agarwal at Pune’s Lohagad Fort, allegedly at the hands of his fiancee Siya Goyal and her lover, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the importance of understanding why educated youth are exhibiting a “vengeful and distorted mindset.” Fadnavis, while speaking to the press during his visit to Pune, expressed deep shock over the incident, calling it both shocking and incomprehensible.
He raised concerns about the underlying causes of such extreme violence, labeling it not just a crime but a significant social issue that demands serious attention. Fadnavis stressed the necessity for society to establish a robust framework to prevent the development of vengeful and distorted attitudes among young individuals. The Chief Minister characterized the incident as profoundly tragic, serious, and a wake-up call for society.
During a meeting with Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch in Pune, Fadnavis was urged to ensure a speedy trial in a fast-track court to uncover the truth promptly. Vishal Agarwal also appealed for the harshest possible punishment for the accused involved in the case. Meanwhile, Siya Goyal’s lawyer, Ashutosh Srivastava, confirmed that Siya has personally signed the legal documents and assured prompt court filing.
Srivastava mentioned that there has been limited interaction with Siya’s family due to their distress, with her father currently hospitalized. He emphasized Siya’s cooperation with the police in the ongoing investigation. The Pune Rural Police are gearing up to reconstruct the crime scene at Lohagad Fort to aid in understanding the events leading to Ketan Agarwal’s demise and to verify the accounts provided by the accused.
