Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stated that appropriate action will be taken if an alleged video featuring Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal with a trans woman is confirmed to be genuine. The Chief Minister’s response follows demands from the opposition for Zirwal’s resignation, intensifying the political situation. Fadnavis mentioned that Zirwal personally contacted him and claimed the video was a compilation of different clips.
Fadnavis advised Zirwal to file a formal complaint for a thorough verification of the video. He emphasized the need to investigate the matter thoroughly to determine the truth. The Chief Minister, along with NCP leader Sunetra Pawar, will make a decision based on the investigation’s outcome. Zirwal, an MLA from the Dindori constituency, has faced criticism previously over a bribery case involving his office clerk.
The opposition has strongly criticized Zirwal after an alleged video featuring him and a trans woman surfaced. They are demanding his immediate resignation from the cabinet. While Zirwal has spoken to the Chief Minister regarding the issue, an official public statement from him is awaited. There has been no official response from Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar or the NCP on the ongoing controversy. Reports suggest that the viral video may date back seven months.
