The Maharashtra Cyber department has taken a significant step by making an arrest in the cyber harassment case concerning Nitara Kumar, the daughter of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of Police at Maharashtra Cyber department, confirmed the arrest. The incident involved a request for nude photos directed at Akshay Kumar’s daughter while she was engaged in an online game.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department also conducted a cyber awareness session at R.D. National College, emphasizing the risks of the digital realm and promoting safe online practices. Students were educated on ways to prevent online financial scams, enhance social media security, guard against phishing attacks, and combat cyberbullying. Yashasvi Yadav shared a distressing account narrated by Akshay Kumar, highlighting the importance of vigilance in the digital space.
During the session, Yashasvi Yadav recounted Akshay Kumar’s revelation about his daughter’s distressing encounter with online harassment. In an old video clip, Akshay Kumar described the incident that occurred while his daughter was playing a video game. The perpetrator, posing as a friendly player, eventually requested a nude photo, prompting the daughter to alert her parents. Akshay Kumar stressed the need for children to be educated about cyber threats to prevent such incidents.
Akshay Kumar had urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to introduce cybercrime awareness classes in schools to equip children with the knowledge needed to navigate the digital landscape safely.
