As campaigning heats up for the Municipal Corporation elections in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed plans to raise the monthly assistance under the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.” Speaking at a rally in Ghatkopar, Shinde assured women that the current aid of Rs 1,500 would soon see an increment. He emphasized the scheme’s permanence, stating that it would continue despite opposition claims.
Shinde, highlighting urban development, particularly the Cluster Housing Scheme in Ghatkopar, pledged to provide every family with a home, irrespective of their eligibility status. He ensured that the Urban Development Department would secure ample funds for these housing initiatives. State Minister Girish Mahajan of the BJP also confirmed the government’s acceleration of payments for the festive season.
In a gesture for Makar Sankranti, the state government will deposit Rs 3,000 (covering December and January) into the bank accounts of eligible Ladki Bahin Yojana beneficiaries before January 14. Mahajan reiterated the government’s commitment, led by Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, towards women’s economic empowerment. This move is viewed as a strategic effort by the ruling Mahayuti alliance to strengthen support among female voters ahead of the crucial municipal elections.
