Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating a secure and progressive Maharashtra. Stressing key areas like disaster management, infrastructure growth, law enforcement, and citizen welfare, Shinde highlighted the completion of 575 km of roads under Mumbai’s concrete road initiative. Notable projects such as the ‘Missing Link’ and ‘Atal Setu’ have significantly eased traffic congestion in the city.
Following heavy rainfall post-July 1, over 3,300 citizens were swiftly relocated to safer areas across various districts. The government sent out more than 16 crore pre-warning alerts through the ‘Sachet’ system and has deployed multiple disaster response teams for immediate assistance. Additionally, a special fund of Rs 10 crore has been allocated for repairing rain damage in Alandi before the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage.
A significant flood control project worth Rs 13,000 crore has received initial approval from the Central Government to address chronic flooding spots in Mumbai. The use of Artificial Intelligence in desilting operations aims to enhance transparency, with stringent penalties for non-compliant contractors. Shinde reported that the state has taken over 7,700 actions against illegal excavation and mineral transport since April 1, 2025, resulting in fines, machinery seizures, and legal actions.
Crime rates have notably decreased across Maharashtra, with a high crime detection rate under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The state has seen successful cybercrime prevention efforts, saving citizens’ money from fraud. Stringent measures against drug trafficking have led to significant seizures and arrests. The government is also focusing on rainwater harvesting, industrial investments, and modern housing projects to propel development in various regions.
