Amid global supply chain disruptions due to Middle East tensions, Maharashtra’s government and PSU Oil Marketing Companies (BPCL, IOCL, and HPCL) have confirmed the availability of sufficient petrol, diesel, and LPG stocks in the state. Operations are being closely monitored to ensure uninterrupted supply. The companies have reassured that adequate stocks are maintained at all petrol pumps and storage locations across Maharashtra.
The surge in demand for diesel and petrol in all districts of Maharashtra has been met by the PSU oil companies. Citizens are urged not to panic buy or hoard petroleum products. The government, along with PSU oil companies, is working to ensure a smooth supply chain. In the first three weeks of May 2026, there was a notable increase in fuel demand compared to the same period last year.
Significantly higher offtake of petroleum products has been observed due to seasonal agricultural activities and private company customers shifting to PSU retail outlets. The state currently has ample stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Booking interval restrictions are in place for LPG cylinders to ensure equitable distribution. Oil companies are delivering LPG refills directly to customers’ homes to avoid unnecessary visits to showrooms.
To meet the rising demand, the Maharashtra government has expedited the expansion of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. Nearly 60% of commercial LPG supply is being met, with priority sectors receiving 100% supply. Maharashtra leads the country with approximately 44 lakh PNG connections. The government has granted permission for pending CGD pipeline applications to enhance the PNG network across the state.
