Leaders from the ruling MahaYuti government in Maharashtra have criticized Congress leader and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan for his recent comments regarding the NCP-SP leaders. Chavan had suggested that the Sharad Pawar-led party might merge with the NDA, a claim that faced backlash from various political figures.
Union Minister and Republican Party Of India (A) Chief Ramdas Athawale dismissed Chavan’s assertions, stating that there is no truth to the claims of pressure on NCP-SP MPs. Athawale also hinted at the possibility of Sharad Pawar joining the NDA, emphasizing the need for Pawar to consider such a move.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam criticized Chavan, labeling him as “restless” and questioning his leadership within the Congress party. Nirupam highlighted a perceived lack of attention towards Chavan within the party, suggesting internal unrest.
NCP-SP leader Naseem Siddiqui took a swipe at Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, cautioning against potential defections from Congress MPs. Siddiqui urged Chavan to prioritize strengthening his own party, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the Congress’s standing in the political landscape.
