Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane created a stir by commenting on Eid al-Adha, MCOCA, cow smuggling, madrasas, and Rahul Gandhi, defending the state’s use of strict laws against illegal cattle trade. Rane emphasized the need for all community festivals to prioritize environmental responsibility, not just Hindu celebrations.
He questioned why suggestions for environmentally friendly celebrations, like dry Holi and no firecrackers during Diwali, were not extended to Eid al-Adha. Rane highlighted the environmental concerns post-Eid al-Adha, criticizing the silence of animal rights groups and public figures on the issue of blood flowing through drains and sewers.
Rane supported the Maharashtra government’s decision to apply the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in cases related to cow smuggling and illegal cattle trade. He also targeted former AIMIM MLA Waris Pathan over cow slaughter allegations and accused Rahul Gandhi of favoring Pakistan over India.
The minister made controversial comments about mosques, madrasas, and cow protection activists, emphasizing the government’s stance on taking strict action against those targeting gau rakshaks. Rane called for the teaching of “Vande Mataram” in madrasas and reiterated his views on “land jihad” and “love jihad.”
