Ace filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and daughter Pooja Bhatt recently appeared on the music reality show Indian Idol. During the show, Mahesh Bhatt shared the inspiration behind the famous poster of his superhit movie “Aashiqui.” Host Aditya Narayan inquired about Bhatt’s experience directing the film and the concept behind its poster.

In response, Mahesh Bhatt explained that since the movie starred newcomers like Rahul Roy, they decided on a unique poster where the faces of the hero and heroine were not visible. This decision aimed to intrigue viewers and draw them to watch the film. The poster, featuring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in a romantic pose behind a black jacket, garnered significant attention for its innovative approach.

“Aashiqui,” released on August 17, 1990, emerged as a groundbreaking Bollywood romantic drama directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film’s success was largely attributed to its memorable music by Nadeem–Shravan, with songs like “Dheere Dheere Se” and “Nazar Ke Saamne” becoming chart-toppers and retaining their iconic status over the years.
