In a significant crackdown on counterfeit trade, the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, Western Range-I, uncovered an organized racket selling fake branded garments and accessories. The operation, conducted at a luxury hotel in Vasant Kunj during a supposed discount sale event, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods from reputed brands like Peter England, Allen Solly, Calvin Klein, and more.
The police team, led by Inspector Ashish Sharma and other officials, seized a variety of counterfeit items, including readymade garments, accessories, footwear, luxury watches, and ladies’ purses. The operation was initiated following a complaint from Brand Protectors India Pvt. Ltd. representatives, leading to the discovery of a well-organized exhibition falsely portraying itself as a legitimate discount sale.
The accused, including Iqbal, were found misleading customers by selling high-quality counterfeit products under the guise of renowned brands. The operation involved offering heavy discounts, issuing fake bills, and accepting payments through modern methods like swipe machines and QR codes. Investigations revealed a sophisticated network running counterfeit exhibitions across multiple cities, with Farukh Ahmad believed to be the mastermind behind the illegal operation.
