In Bhagalpur, a significant operation against an organized land-grabbing gang led to the arrest of eight active members from the Anand Marg area. The crackdown, directed by Bhagalpur SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav, has rattled criminal elements in the district.

On April 9, 2026, police acted on a confidential tip-off regarding an attempt to forcibly seize a valuable land plot at gunpoint. Responding swiftly, a special team was formed, resulting in the apprehension of eight accused individuals red-handed during the illegal occupation bid.

During a press conference, SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav disclosed that the gang had devised a meticulous plan to avoid detection. The operation uncovered eight smartphones from the accused, with preliminary forensic analysis revealing crucial evidence such as land documents, property maps, and lists of disputed plots.

Among the arrested individuals is Satyam Kumar Yadav, the prime accused who was already wanted in multiple serious cases. He was found in possession of a country-made pistol and live ammunition, with police also seizing the clothing worn by the accused during the crime. Officials noted that several of the arrested individuals have previous criminal records, including cases related to robbery and extortion.

SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav issued a stern warning, emphasizing zero tolerance for illegal land rackets. Continuous raids are being conducted, with absconding gang members identified. Additionally, investigations are underway into the potential involvement of white-collar individuals supporting these criminals. This operation signifies a crucial step in dismantling organized land mafia networks and restoring law and order in the district.
