A significant fire occurred at a five-storey building in Mamura village, Noida, leading to a large-scale rescue operation that safely evacuated about 100 occupants. Two individuals, critically injured during the incident, are currently receiving medical treatment, while the building operator has been apprehended by authorities.
The fire originated in the residential building in Mamura village, prompting a swift response from police and fire department personnel who conducted rescue operations. Firefighters successfully controlled the blaze after evacuating the individuals trapped inside the smoke-filled structure.
DCP (Central) Shailendra Kumar Singh explained that the fire began when an electric scooter, charging in the parking lot, caught fire, spreading to nearby areas and generating substantial smoke that reached upper floors and rooms. Immediate action was taken by the police and fire services upon receiving the fire alert.
More than 100 individuals were rescued during the operation, despite the challenges posed by dense smoke within the building. Emergency responders managed to evacuate the residents on time, ensuring their safety. Two individuals, who fell ill during the evacuation, were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
DCP Singh mentioned that legal action has been initiated against the leaseholder and building operator for suspected negligence, leading to their arrest. Further updates on the incident are awaited.
