In a crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the South-East District Police in Delhi has dismantled an interstate ganja smuggling network. They seized 183 kilograms of contraband worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore in the illegal market. Three key members, including the alleged mastermind, were arrested, and the narcotics were concealed in a secret compartment in a truck container.
The operation dealt a significant blow to an interstate trafficking network spanning Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR. The breakthrough occurred after specific intelligence was received on a truck carrying ganja from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. A special raiding team intercepted the vehicle near Kalindi Kunj Metro Station, leading to the seizure.
The arrested individuals confessed to transporting large quantities of ganja from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Delhi-NCR. The alleged kingpin, Shriram, coordinated the procurement, transportation, and delivery of narcotics through an organized interstate network. Shriram was apprehended in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, following disclosures made by the accused and technical surveillance.
A case was registered under the NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing to identify the network’s source suppliers, financiers, and other members. The arrested individuals, including Shriram, have been linked to previous NDPS cases involving commercial quantities of narcotics. The truck container used for transportation was also seized along with the 183 kg of ganja.
