A tragic road accident occurred in Patna when a speeding Scorpio SUV hit three individuals in the Pirmohani area under the Kadamkuan police station on Monday morning. One person, identified as Munna Kumar (41), lost his life on the spot, while two others sustained severe injuries. The deceased was a resident of Khatal Gali, and his body was taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination with the help of local residents and the police.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital. Reports indicate that Munna Kumar, a municipal corporation employee, was working at the residence of a BJP leader when the accident happened. Another municipal corporation employee and a paper vendor were also among the injured. The driver of the Scorpio fled the scene immediately, prompting the police to launch a search and analyze CCTV footage to locate the vehicle and apprehend the culprit.
In a separate incident in Samastipur district, tragedy struck as two young siblings lost their lives following a Saraswati Puja immersion ceremony when a tractor overturned late on Sunday night near the Shanti River bridge under the Chakmehsi police station area. The children, identified as Abhiraj (7) and Anushka (4), were the offspring of Umashankar Thakur from Bhusakaul village. Two other children were seriously injured in the mishap, prompting villagers to inform the police and assist in rescuing the trapped children beneath the overturned tractor.
Despite efforts to save them, Abhiraj and Anushka succumbed to their injuries. The injured children, sons of Vijay Trivedi and Thandi Ram from the same village, received initial treatment at Kalyanpur Primary Health Centre before being referred to Sadar Hospital, Samastipur, due to the severity of their conditions. The tragic incidents have left the affected families devastated, highlighting concerns regarding road safety and negligence.
