The creators of the film ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath’ have taken their case to the Supreme Court after the Odisha High Court banned the movie for not aligning with the Skanda Purana. Senior advocate Devadatt Kamath represented the makers before the Chief Justice of India, arguing that the film, designed for children, has incurred significant financial losses due to the ban.

In an official statement, the filmmakers described ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath’ as an extension of their animated series Jay Jagannath, emphasizing their sincere dedication to Lord Jagannath and His followers. They expressed their desire for the audience to have the opportunity to view the film and form their own opinions.

The creators highlighted that the movie portrays a devotee’s deep reverence for Mahaprabhu Jagannath and aims to bring families closer to the teachings of Lord Jagannath. With U certification in Hindi, Odia, and Telugu from the CBFC, they have submitted a review petition to the Supreme Court while respecting the ongoing legal process.
