Santhosh Nair, a well-known figure in Malayalam cinema at 65, tragically passed away in a road accident near Adoor in Pathanamthitta district. The incident occurred on MC Road early morning when the car he was traveling in with his wife collided with a parcel lorry. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he suffered a heart attack during treatment.

His wife, Shubhashree, and the lorry driver sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention. Santhosh Nair’s demise not only marks the loss of a versatile actor but also severs a long-standing bond with superstar Mohanlal.

Their friendship dates back to their college days at MG College in Thiruvananthapuram, where Santhosh, a junior to Mohanlal, was known for his vibrant presence on campus. Starting his acting career in 1982 with ‘Ithu Njangalude Katha’, directed by P.G. Viswambharan, he appeared in over 100 films, showcasing his talent in various roles.

Known for his versatility in villainous, comedic, and character portrayals, Santhosh Nair’s contributions to films like ‘Irupatham Noottandu’ highlighted his acting prowess. Despite a brief hiatus in the late 1990s, he remained a consistent figure in Malayalam cinema, with his final film ‘Mohiniyattam’ currently screening in theaters.

Born on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvananthapuram, to C.N. Kesavan Nair and P. Rajalakshmi Amma, Santhosh Nair was not only active in student politics but also cherished friendships within and beyond the film industry, leaving behind a legacy of lively engagement until his last days.
