Director Rajkumar Periasamy revealed that Malayalam star Mammootty will portray the character Karthikeyan in the upcoming film ‘Om’, starring Dhanush. At a recent title teaser launch event, Periasamy shared that a significant portion of the filming, around 60 to 65 percent, has been completed. The director expressed optimism about the project, stating that the film is progressing well and will be a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The film, titled ‘Om’, is scheduled to release on October 16 this year. Notably, the title teaser hinted at a potential sequel with the tagline Chapter 1, although Periasamy clarified that the first installment will have a conclusive storyline. The teaser showcased a narrative revolving around individuals engaged in the illegal cutting of red sanders, with Dhanush playing a pivotal role in the storyline.
During the title teaser launch, Wunderbar Films Head Sreyas mentioned that ‘Om’ would be Dhanush’s most expensive project to date. He also emphasized that the film would showcase the return of the mass vintage Dhanush that fans have been eagerly anticipating. The movie features Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela as the female leads, with music by Sai Abhyankar, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu, editing by Kalaivanan R, and costumes by Kavya Sriram.
The production team warmly welcomed Mammootty to the project, acknowledging his significant contribution. Rajkumar Periasamy personally expressed his excitement about having Mammootty on board, highlighting the esteemed actor’s impact on the film. In response, Mammootty expressed his enthusiasm for joining the journey alongside Dhanush and Rajkumar Periasamy, underscoring his commitment to the project.
