West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed concerns on Wednesday, alleging that the BJP is attempting to manipulate the ongoing Assembly elections in the state. She criticized the presence of external election observers at polling stations, accusing them of exerting undue influence. Mamata Banerjee visited polling booths in South Kolkata during the second phase of voting across 142 seats.
To ensure a secure voting environment, CCTV cameras have been installed, and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel are deployed. The polling officers have implemented stringent measures for the polling process. Mamata Banerjee claimed that a Trinamool Congress worker was assaulted, attributing the incident to the influence of the BJP and the CAPF.
The Chief Minister highlighted instances of alleged violence and interference, stating that the BJP aims to disrupt the election process. She emphasized the importance of peaceful voting and criticized the influx of external observers and police officers unfamiliar with the region. Mamata Banerjee condemned the reported assaults on party members and their families, calling for a fair and peaceful electoral process.
