West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged on Tuesday that the BJP is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to delete voters’ names and called for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation over the issue. Speaking at a public gathering in Barjora, Bankura district, Banerjee claimed that the BJP aims to remove 1.5 crore names from the state’s voter list.
She cautioned against believing all social media videos, highlighting the BJP’s alleged deletion of 54 lakh voters’ names through AI. Banerjee warned of duplicate names being created to deny voting rights, urging vigilance among voters. She criticized the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating it jeopardizes voting rights.
Banerjee demanded that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) be permitted at SIR hearings and criticized their exclusion from polling centers. She emphasized the need for transparency and vowed to seek justice through public and legal avenues. The Chief Minister also condemned the tragic suicide of an elderly individual following an SIR hearing, calling for an end to the alleged harassment of Bengal residents.
