West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised concerns about a possible conspiracy surrounding the plane crash that led to the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Banerjee expressed doubts about the ability of Central investigation agencies to conduct an unbiased inquiry and has urged for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation.
Banerjee’s suspicions stem from reports suggesting Ajit Pawar’s potential exit from the BJP-led Maharashtra government alliance. She emphasized the need for a thorough investigation supervised by the Supreme Court, citing lack of trust in other investigative bodies. The Chief Minister postponed her scheduled trip to Delhi following the incident, where she planned to protest against the Election Commission’s electoral roll revision.
In response to the tragedy, Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress has echoed her call for a Supreme Court-led investigation, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances of the plane crash. Party members have also joined in expressing concerns over the incident, pointing to previous statements hinting at Ajit Pawar’s political realignments.
