Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has organized a significant party meeting at her residence in Kalighat, South Kolkata, to assess the reasons behind her party’s substantial loss in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections. The meeting, scheduled for Friday, will be attended by both winning and losing candidates from all 294 Assembly constituencies, along with key party leaders.
Following the announcement of results for 293 out of 294 Assembly seats on May 4, where BJP secured victory in 207 seats while Trinamool Congress was reduced to 80 seats, a re-polling for the entire Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district is set for May 21, with results to be declared on May 24.
During the meeting, discussions will also focus on the strategy for the upcoming re-polling in Falta, as mentioned by a party MLA. Additionally, Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in a social media statement and video message, alleged irregularities in the election results, pointing to poll misappropriations and violence post-results, urging party activists to remain steadfast and continue serving the people.
