She also praised the people of Bangladesh for their peaceful participation in the polls. Banerjee expressed her well wishes for the success and happiness of all, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong ties between India and Bangladesh.
In a separate message, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Tarique Rahman and the BNP leadership for their triumph in the Bangladesh elections. Modi highlighted the people’s trust in Rahman’s leadership and affirmed India’s commitment to supporting a democratic and progressive Bangladesh. He expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with Rahman to enhance bilateral relations and achieve common development objectives.
While notable political figures in West Bengal had not issued official statements on the Bangladesh elections at the time of reporting, former state BJP President Sukanta Majumdar shared Prime Minister Modi’s message on his social media platform. Only former BJP state president Dilip Ghosh briefly mentioned to the media his optimism for improved India-Bangladesh relations in the future.
