The Mamata Banerjee-aligned faction within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has officially informed the Election Commission of India (ECI) about its original national working committee. This faction, loyal to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, claims that their list represents the authentic national working committee, countering the one announced by the rebel faction in the West Bengal Assembly.

The communication to the ECI was made shortly after the rebel faction, led by Ritabrata Banerjee, revealed a new national working committee that excluded Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. In the list submitted by the Mamata Banerjee faction, she is named the national chairperson, with Subrata Bakshi as national vice-president and Abhishek Banerjee as general secretary.

The list also includes Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen as joint secretaries, along with Subhasish Chakraborty as treasurer. In response to this development, Ritabrata Banerjee refrained from commenting but extended good wishes to the other faction. The rebel faction’s committee, announced earlier, appointed Arup Roy as chairperson, Aroop Biswas as vice-chairman, and several others to key positions.

The “original but minority” faction, maintaining allegiance to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, sent a detailed communication to the ECI regarding the party’s national working committee. They claimed that their list is the authentic one, in contrast to the new committee announced by the rebel faction within the Trinamool Congress.
