West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cautioned that many people would lose their homes if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures power in the state post the upcoming elections. Addressing a campaign rally in Khandaghosh, East Burdwan district, she expressed concerns about potential homelessness under BJP rule.
Banerjee criticized the Prime Minister, indirectly referencing his pledge during a recent campaign event to implement the 7th Pay Commission for state government employees if the BJP wins in West Bengal. She labeled the BJP as dishonest, highlighting that West Bengal already enacted the 7th Pay Commission in the state budget earlier this year, emphasizing the unique pension benefits for state employees.
The Chief Minister, without directly naming the Prime Minister, disputed his assertion that Bengal’s popular food items and sweets would be exported globally under BJP governance. She clarified that these products are already being sold locally, nationally, and internationally, questioning the PM’s awareness.
Accusing the BJP and former Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir of attempting to manipulate minority votes, Banerjee raised concerns about a purported Rs 1,000 crore deal to influence minority voters. She challenged the authenticity of a video clip related to this issue, questioning the attempts to conceal facts despite claims of its genuineness and urged for transparency on economic matters like fuel prices.
