Veteran actor Mammootty expressed optimism that the ongoing crisis within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) would eventually be resolved. The turmoil within AMMA escalated as fresh allegations and counter-allegations surfaced, with former President Shweta Menon defending her decision to resign from the organization. Menon, in a social media post, accused the association of character assassination and called for a forensic audit of its accounts during the past two executive committees’ tenure.
The entire committee, led by Menon, resigned on Sunday, leading to the formation of a nine-member ad-hoc committee to oversee the organization and conduct elections for a new executive committee in four months. Menon highlighted possible financial irregularities within AMMA and emphasized the need for a thorough examination of the accounts to restore trust in the organization’s operations. Former Treasurer Unni Sivapal added fuel to the controversy by alleging financial mismanagement within AMMA, including unauthorized expenditures and his objections being sidelined.
The internal strife within AMMA has intensified, with members openly expressing grievances and calling for a forensic audit. Despite Mammootty’s hopeful outlook for a resolution, the deepening divide within the association indicates that challenges persist, hinting at a prolonged period of uncertainty ahead.
