A man has been taken into custody for reportedly sexually assaulting his daughter’s friend in the Tiljala area of east Kolkata. The arrest, which occurred on Wednesday night, followed a complaint filed by the victim’s family. The victim’s medical examination and statement are currently being documented.
According to the authorities, the victim had a longstanding friendship with the accused’s daughter and was well-acquainted with the family. Staying at her friend’s house due to issues at her own residence, she allegedly fell victim to multiple instances of sexual assault by the accused when other family members were absent.
Initially, the young woman kept silent about the assaults due to fear and shame. It is claimed that the accused threatened her with harm if she revealed the incidents. Subsequently, as her health deteriorated, she confided in her family and friend about the abuse.
Following the victim’s written complaint to the Tiljala police station, the accused was apprehended on Wednesday. Charges, including rape, have been filed against him under various sections. The Tiljala police station is actively investigating the case, examining all aspects and gathering evidence to verify the allegations through the victim’s statement.
