A 27-year-old man was arrested in central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar for allegedly assaulting and sexually abusing a 70-year-old woman at her residence. The incident, which occurred on April 11, was promptly solved within 48 hours by the Delhi Police. The victim was initially taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for a medical examination that confirmed injuries consistent with physical assault.
Following a PCR call reporting the assault, the police team from Ranjit Nagar Police Station swiftly responded to the scene. The victim’s daughter later informed the police about the sexual assault, leading to additional medical examinations that confirmed the abuse. Subsequently, the FIR was updated with sections related to sexual offenses based on the fresh complaint.
The victim recounted that the accused first visited her home on April 9 under false pretenses and later returned to commit the assault. To crack the case, a specialized police team was formed, utilizing CCTV footage and local informers to track the suspect’s movements. The accused, identified as Mukesh from Baljeet Nagar, was apprehended on April 13 in the Pandav Nagar area.
During interrogation, Mukesh admitted to the crime, revealing that he had malicious intentions when he assaulted the elderly woman. The accused was presented before a court and has been remanded to judicial custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, Rohit Rajbir Singh commended the police team’s swift actions, effective surveillance, and thorough investigation that led to the prompt arrest of the perpetrator.
