A man, Ankit Verma, was arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for attacking women with scissors while following them on a two-wheeler. The incidents occurred on May 22 on the Sector-55 road stretch, where two women were assaulted from behind, resulting in injuries. Ankit Verma, a resident of Ghaziabad working in a Noida-based private company, was identified as the suspect through electronic surveillance and local intelligence. Police teams, aided by CCTV footage and technical inputs, apprehended him in the Sector-55/56 road area. The accused reportedly targeted women in isolated areas, launching sudden attacks from behind, with investigations ongoing to determine the motive and potential links to similar incidents.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Manisha Singh, confirmed the arrest, emphasizing the police’s swift response to the situation. Authorities have assured continued vigilance in sensitive areas to safeguard women and prevent such occurrences in the future.
