The Delhi Police have apprehended a man accused of killing his wife in Seelampur, Delhi, at Moradabad Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. The crime was resolved within 48 hours of its occurrence. The suspect had attempted to escape arrest by moving through various cities but was located through technical surveillance and intelligence inputs.
The incident unfolded on July 16 around 7:32 p.m. when the Seelampur Police Station received a report of a woman’s murder in Gautampuri, Seelampur. Upon arrival, the police discovered the victim, a 45-year-old woman, with severe injuries lying in a pool of blood. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at JPC Hospital.
Following the discovery, forensic experts collected evidence at the crime scene, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination at GTB Hospital. A case was registered at Police Station Seelampur, and an investigation commenced. The victim’s husband, Saleem, aged 52, was identified as the primary suspect after he went missing post-incident.
A specialized police team, headed by Inspector Narpal Singh and including other officers, was formed to investigate the case. Through a thorough analysis of CCTV footage, technical evidence, and intelligence inputs, the team tracked the suspect’s movements to Moradabad Railway Station, where he was arrested. During interrogation, the suspect, Saleem, admitted to the crime.
Saleem confessed that he suspected his wife of infidelity due to her past workplace relationships, leading to frequent domestic conflicts. On the day of the incident, a heated argument escalated, resulting in Saleem attacking his wife with scissors in a fit of rage. Believing her to be dead, he fled the scene after locking the house.
The accused attempted to evade capture by changing locations across various cities before being apprehended. The police recovered the weapon used in the crime, a pair of scissors, and blood-stained clothes from the suspect. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
