The Karnataka Police have apprehended Yakshit Raj from Ramanagar for making inappropriate remarks on Congress MLA Nayana Motamma’s Instagram account. Nayana Motamma, representing the Mudigere Assembly constituency, faced vulgar comments on her personal Instagram, prompting her assistant to file a police complaint in October 2025. The accused, targeting the MLA’s attire, was arrested in Bengaluru following a search operation.
MLA Nayana Motamma condemned the act, highlighting the stereotyping of women based on attire and character. She expressed determination to confront such behavior despite facing derogatory comments without accountability. The arrested individual, Yakshit Raj, has been placed in judicial custody as investigations continue.
In a separate incident, the Bengaluru Police Cyber Crime unit took action against individuals who posted offensive content against Kannada actress Ramya. Ramya filed a complaint in July 2025 after receiving abusive messages, including threats, on social media platforms. The harassment stemmed from her comments on the Renukaswamy murder case, leading to arrests made by the Central Crime Branch cyber team.
Following a complaint by Kannada actor Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, the Bengaluru Police arrested two individuals for sharing derogatory content about her on social media. Vijayalakshmi expressed dissatisfaction with the delayed response to her complaint compared to the prompt action taken in Ramya’s case. She sought legal measures against over 18 individuals involved in spreading the offensive material.
