A 29-year-old man, identified as Nihal Solanki, was apprehended on Monday morning for crashing his speeding Mercedes into two police officers at a Marine Drive checkpoint in Mumbai, causing serious injuries to them before fleeing the scene. The officers, Constable Krishnakant Mishra and Rathod from the Marine Drive police station, sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment in the ICU at Bombay Hospital. Solanki, a resident of Panchavati, Nashik, was identified as the perpetrator by the police.
Police reported that the incident occurred when officers tried to stop Solanki’s luxury car at the checkpoint. Instead of complying, he allegedly accelerated and struck the two officers before absconding from the scene. Upon notification, the police promptly arrived at the location and transported the injured officers to the hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, the Marine Drive police initiated a search operation and successfully apprehended Solanki in Nalasopara on Monday morning.
An official stated that Solanki is currently in custody as the investigation progresses. The case is under active investigation, with further information pending. Incidents of this nature are not uncommon in Mumbai, with previous occurrences involving high-end car accidents resulting in injuries and property damage.
