A man was apprehended with suspected brown sugar close to the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar’s Kishanganj district. The arrest took place on Friday by a combined team of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Bihar Police.
The joint operation, involving the SSB team and Bihar Police personnel, was initiated based on specific intelligence about the concealment of narcotics at the residence of an alleged drug dealer in Darbhanga Tola area near Galgalia town. Following a thorough search, the team discovered around 404 gm of brown sugar hidden in two separate plastic packets.
The recovered substance, confirmed through a drug detection kit, indicated a significant value of more than Rs 20 lakh. The arrested individual, Md Hamid Alam, was found in possession of the narcotics along with a mobile phone. Authorities are now investigating his connections and drug procurement sources, while also searching for any potential associates.
Under the NDPS Act, Md Hamid Alam has been charged at the Galgalia police station. The SSB remains vigilant in combating narcotics trafficking along the Indo-Nepal border.
