A man in Magrahat, West Bengal, took his own life upon discovering his name listed under the “adjudication” category in the final electoral rolls post Special Intensive Revision. Identified as Rafiq Ali Ghazi, 41, his body was found with a noose around his neck by officers of Ushti Police Station.

Ghazi, who had been in distress since receiving the SIR notice, had submitted all required documents and checked the final electoral rolls on February 28. Despite finding his name on the list, it was categorized under adjudication, leading to his despondency.

On the evening of Dol Yatra, Ghazi was alone at home and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. His wife criticized the Election Commission for the tragic incident, highlighting his concerns about their future. The deceased, along with five family members, and 111 other residents from booth number 141, are also listed under adjudication.
