In a tragic incident in Kamareddy town, Telangana, a man took the lives of his three daughters by throwing them into a lake. The bodies of Ayat (7) and Mariyam (5) were recovered on Saturday night, while Shifat (8) was found the next morning. The man, identified as Ismail, an autorickshaw driver, was arrested and placed in judicial custody.
Ismail had initially reported his daughters missing, but upon police investigation, he confessed to the crime. Assistant Superintendent of Police Chaitanya Reddy disclosed that the parents had reported the children missing on Saturday afternoon. Ismail, citing financial struggles, admitted to the police that he found it challenging to support his daughters due to debts exceeding Rs 5 lakh.
During interrogation, Ismail revealed that he had taken his daughters for breakfast and later dropped them off, leading to suspicion due to inconsistent statements. Subsequently, CCTV footage and phone records incriminated him, prompting a confession. Ismail’s wife, Shabeena, who works as a laborer, was not present during the tragic incident. The police are planning to request further custody for Ismail for continued questioning.
