A tragic incident unfolded in Ranchi as a wild elephant strayed into a residential area, resulting in the death of a man named Subodh Khalkho. The incident, which occurred in Pali village, has left nearby residents in a state of panic.
This is the second such occurrence within four days where an elephant has entered residential parts of Ranchi. The elephant was first spotted near Chittarkota Patra village before moving towards Pali, both densely populated regions.
Forest Department officials are closely monitoring the movements of the elephant. Teams have been dispatched to the affected areas to guide the animal back to the forest safely. Villagers have been advised to stay indoors and maintain a safe distance from the elephant as a precautionary measure.
Authorities have cautioned against provoking or chasing the elephant. The rising incidents of elephants straying into human settlements in Jharkhand underscore the escalating human-elephant conflict in the region. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed concern over the recurring incidents and directed officials to develop strategies to prevent such intrusions.
