A tragic incident on the Betul-Nagpur National Highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district claimed the life of a 36-year-old man and left his wife and six-year-old son seriously injured. The family, en-route to a traditional thirteenth-day ceremony in Mo Harkheda village, was struck by a speeding container truck that lost control near the Jhi Tapa junction.
The collision, caused by the truck breaking through the road divider into oncoming traffic, resulted in fatal injuries for Vikas Rao, the husband, while his wife and son suffered fractures and internal injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, with the child in critical condition requiring intensive care.
Authorities have impounded the truck involved in the accident and launched a search for the driver who fled the scene. A case has been registered against the driver under relevant laws for rash driving, negligence leading to death, and hit-and-run, with initial investigations pointing to overspeeding and possible driver fatigue as factors.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation, examining the truck’s fitness certificate and the driver’s history to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
