A man posing as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was apprehended at Rampurhat railway station in West Bengal by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Eastern Railway officials are investigating if he was part of a larger scheme to cheat passengers. The suspect, Aryadeep Saha, was found with fake railway ID cards and a digital toolkit for deception.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector of RPF noticed the man’s suspicious behavior at the station. The man claimed to be a TTE under the Sealdah Division and even had a laminated Railway ID card. However, inconsistencies on the card raised doubts, leading to his interrogation. Saha, a resident of North 24 Parganas district, confessed to impersonating a railway employee.
Saha confessed to using advanced technology to create convincing fake documents. RPF officials seized counterfeit ID cards, a forged Ticket Checking Authority letter, and other incriminating items from him. The accused, along with the seized articles, has been handed over to the Government Railway Police for legal action. Authorities are also investigating the amount of money Saha collected from passengers.
Officials have increased vigilance at stations and on trains following previous fake recruitment incidents. Passengers are advised not to bribe railway staff to avoid penalties. The railway authorities are committed to ensuring safe travel experiences and urge passengers to report any suspicious activities immediately.
