Manchester United has officially announced the acquisition of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, with the deal set to last until June 2031. Tielemans will sport the No.18 jersey as he joins Michael Carrick’s squad for the upcoming 2026/27 season. This number holds significance as it was previously worn by Reds legend Paul Scholes.
Youri Tielemans, who boasts 90 caps for Belgium, recently led his national team to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup. Expressing his joy, Tielemans stated that signing with Manchester United is a proud moment for him, emphasizing the club’s ambition to strive for major trophies in the future. In addition to Tielemans, Manchester United has also welcomed Andrey Santos to their ranks on a contract until June 2031, with a potential extension for another year. Santos, a 22-year-old talent who has captained Brazil’s Under-23 team, previously secured the FIFA Club World Cup with impressive performances.
