The second edition of ‘Mango Magic: Promotion and Tasting Event of Indian Mangoes’ took place in Seattle, bringing together over 100 top Indian fruit importers and representatives from major US retailers like Costco. Seven premium Indian mango varieties were featured, including Alphonso, Kesar, Banganapalli, Himayat, Langra, Dussehri, and Rajapuri.
Denny Heck, Lieutenant Governor of Washington State, welcomed the presence of Indian mangoes in the US market at the event. Prominent dignitaries, including Washington State Senators and Consuls General of Japan and Uzbekistan, sampled the mangoes, appreciating the diverse flavors from different Indian regions.
Efforts to introduce Indian mangoes in Seattle began in July 2025, with significant progress made after a meeting with Costco’s CEO in April 2026. Indian mango varieties like Bhagwa pomegranates and Kesar mangoes were successfully introduced in Costco stores in the Greater Seattle area, Las Vegas, New Jersey, and Greater Los Angeles.
Costco reported a high demand for Indian mangoes, with all mangoes selling out within hours of arrival at various locations. India, as the world’s largest mango producer, exported mangoes worth $10 million to the US in the financial year 2023-24, showing a substantial increase from the previous year.
