Congress leader and former Union minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, in a video message on YouTube, extended Eid greetings while highlighting the challenges faced by Muslims globally, especially in India. Aiyar emphasized that Muslims, not only in India but also in various countries, are often targeted by communal forces. The message, titled “Eid in a Time of War: Gaza, Iran & West Asia Crisis,” reflects on the importance of peace and shared humanity amidst ongoing conflicts.
Aiyar, in his seven-minute message delivered in Hindi and English, expressed concerns about Muslims being victims of communal forces across regions like West Asia, Central Asia, and Africa. He urged for peace, compassion, and harmony, emphasizing the need for global tranquility and democracy in the Islamic world. Aiyar also conveyed his wishes for peace and unity among the Muslim community worldwide, from Southeast Asia to northwest Africa.
The veteran politician has been known for his controversial remarks on various issues over the years, including criticism of party colleagues and national leaders. Aiyar has previously sparked controversies with his statements, such as his comments during the 2024 election campaign regarding China’s historical actions. Despite past controversies, Aiyar concluded his Eid message by expressing hope for a future where spiritual values and composite culture are prioritized for global well-being.
